Andy Ward is Head of Research and Development for engines at Ricardo UK, a global engineering consultancy employing over 2700 engineers around the world. My passion is the development of engines that are cleaner, more efficient and quieter while keeping the fun to drive and other requirements.
I joined Ricardo and moved to the Brighton area in 1994 having graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While I didn’t imagine I would still be here 22 years later, I’ve never got bored of the variety of challenges that our engineering projects bring or of the local area with its mix of sea, cosmopolitan culture and beautiful countryside. During that time, I’ve worked on applications ranging from 3 wheeler Tuk Tuks, cars, 4x4’s and trucks through to large engines for power generation and have enjoyed travelling widely visiting customers throughout the world.
Outside of the day job, I’m a Trustee of the Ricardo pension scheme and my interests include camping with my wife and 2 teenage children and holidays which inevitably revolve around a love of food.
