Iain’s prior technical experience covers both Tier 1/Tier 2 organisations and OEMs ranging from ultra-high luxury motor cars, through high-volume B-segment vehicles, to commercial vehicles and includes a number of electric vehicle programmes. He has performed technical leadership of Technology Strategy Board-funded programmes such as the ‘MOtors for Transport Omitting Rare-Earths’ (‘MOTORE’) project, where he lead a team of technical staff from the Power and Drives Group (Cranfield University), the National Physical Laboratory, Agility Global and Liberty Electric Cars Ltd.

Additionally, Iain has worked at Electrical Engineering Director level and was Chief Electrical Engineer on the EU Seventh Framework ‘Design of Electric Light Vans for Environment-impact Reduction’ (‘DELIVER’) project where he was responsible for managing teams of engineers from Volkswagen, Fiat Central Research, Michelin Research and Technology, SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden and Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge der RWTH Aachen, amongst others.

Iain has a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with Electronic Systems from Brunel University, an MSc (with Distinction) in Control Engineering from Coventry University, is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
